Facts of Drupal – PHP Open Source CMS
Drupal was originally written by Dries Buytaert and it became an open source project in 2001. Drupal is an English rendering of the Dutch word druppel”, which means “drop”. The name was taken from the now-defunct Drop.org website, whose code slowly evolved into Drupal. Buytaert wanted to call the site “dorp” (Dutch for “village”) for its community aspects, but made a typo when checking the domain name and thought it sounded better.
Drupal is an Open Source CMS made using PHP scripting language. It is used for admin functionality(Back-end) by almost 1% of total websites starting from small application to large enterprise application. Drupal is highly customizable and easy to use compared to other Content Management Open Source.
First release of Drupal, known as Drupal core which contains basic features common to most Content Management Systems. Drupal include user accounts, customizing layout and system administration.
