Import Large sql file from phpmyadmin

Hello Friends,

I was trying to import a 500mb file in phpmyadmin using import tab in phpmyadmin. When i select file and start import it shows me below error.
“You probably tried to upload too large file. Please refer to documentation for ways to workaround this limit.”

I have set all ways to increase limit from mysql than it throws me time out error. I increased timeout but still it keeps loading and never finish the import. I found a way to get this done using other way. Here it is..

Go to phpmyadmin directory under your xampp directory.

1. Open config.inc.php file and set/add this line. $cfg['UploadDir'] = ‘upload’;
2. Now create upload folder inside your phpmyadmin folder and put your .sql file in upload folder.
3. Now open phpmyadmin in browser, go to import. You can see the file in dropdown just below browse button.
4. Select it and Gooooooo…

This will surely work. You will never face error like “You probably tried to upload too large file. Please refer to documentation for ways to workaround this limit.” with this method. You can import large sql files from phpmyadmin. Easy to import large sql file from phpmyadmin.
